Staying in Sarasota

Tampa Mission Conference with Elder Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve, May 2010
Alex is in the second row, fourth from the right.

Transfers: We are going round two! We had a lot of great things happen last week so we called President Colton and asked him if we could stay another. I'm actually excited about it. Everyone in my district is staying the same actually, so that is good. I really like my district.

The weather is really starting to heat up. This morning we had to walk to the bus stop and it was uncomfortably hot at 8:30 in the morning. It's not so much the heat as it is the humidity, but we get the car back this week so that is good. Church is going well. We are still translating for sacrament meeting. Yesterday we had over 30 Spanish members there for a baby blessing! That won't happen again, though. It's kind of nice being in a functional English ward. Again, we didn't have anyone show up for church which was a huge disappointment.

Chris is being really lazy so we have to push his date back about a month so we can teach him everything. It's really hard to get a hold of him to teach him. Teresita has been really busy the past week so we are scrambling to teach her everything before the 19th. Maribel and her kids didn't come to church but we will find out why this week. Hopefully everything continues well with them.

Last p-day we had a ward party and one of our English class students (who's cousin is a member) showed up with his daughter, son, sister and her 2 daughters. The girls are really interested and for a good 2 hours at the party we talked about the Church. We are teaching them Mondays and Wednesdays. The oldest is Kelly at 16, she is in the IV program with means she is the AP of the APs so she is really smart. Her sister is Kathy Quispe, and is 14. Then there is their cousin Rosalin (daughter of the English class student) and Beto (son). We teach them all together and the lessons are going really well.

I think that is all of our investigators... anyway, the work is going great! We are having a lot of fun together and tearing up Sarasota! That's all the news I have for today. Did you get the mission picture? That is pretty awesome! Love you!
